Big Sky by Kate Atkinson brings the welcome return of Jackson Brodie, originally from the Case Histories series. There is a staggeringly huge cast of characters and interlaced stories to keep track of. It’s beautifully told and despite some serious doings, there are also interjections of humor. Brodie is trying to figure out the dark undercurrent in his seemingly picturesque and peaceful village. The routine life of a PI chasing down unfaithful spouses quickly morphs into a sinister case that requires all his talent to unravel.
