Counting Birds--The Idea that Helped Save our Feathered Friends

Counting Birds--the idea that helped save our feathered friends by Heidi Stemple is the story of Frank Chapman. He proposed the radical idea--at the time--of counting birds, not killing them. The first count in 1900 totaled 18,500 birds from 89 species. Since then the Audubon Christmas Bird Count has become the longest running citizen science project in the world. In 2016 73,153 birders counted 56,139,812 birds! (Non-Fiction)
