Window Design Internship @ the Rowayton Library

Internship Information

Rowayton Library is a public library in Fairfield County, CT – approximately 1 hour from NYC.

Internship Title: Window Designer/Window Artist

Position Description: Rowayton Library is situated in a beautiful historic stone building in the seaside town of Rowayton, CT on the Long Island Sound. The Rowayton Library is a vibrant and active library with numerous monthly programs and events. The librarycaters to an active, vital, involved community of families.

The large bay window which fronts the entrance of the library is used to display and promote various events that take place at the library, and we are looking for a young creative person to decorate, set, design and envision a variety of window displays for the library window. We possibly have in mind a blend of a Barney’s New York style window for the literary set. Displays may change once or twice a month. Most initial creative work could probably be done via phone, email, fax, Photoshop/Adobe attachments, etc. Then, once the conception is agreed upon, perhaps one or two days in Rowayton to create the display in the window would be required. There will be a budget for materials. The student may take photos of their work for their portfolio.

Qualifications: Art, Set Design, Theatre, Sculpture, Photography – interest & ability in the Fine Arts, as well as design and an eye to style and a creative imagination.

Application Process: Email/send cover letter and CV to Internship@Rowayton.org

This is an unpaid internship with a small stipend for travel and materials and may qualifiy for credit at educational institutions.
