The Unteachables by Gordon Korman gives voice to multiple student narrators who are consigned to a class of forgettable students. Their teacher Mr. Kermit ultimately proves there is, in fact, no such thing as an unteachable student, even when he is considered (unfairly) to be the bottom of the barrel. His class of misfits runs the gamut of personalities, most are underachieving due to misunderstandings. It’s a journey that’s portrayed realistically. Plentiful doses of humor round out the more serious theme of resilience and triumph in the face of skepticism.
