Duck by Meg McKinlay finds a duck with a very important message who is not getting through to the other barnyard denizens. Sporting a tell-tale bucket on his head, he runs up to each animal yelling “Duck!”. They scoff at what they see as his inability to distinguish one animal from another, totally missing his frantic efforts to tell them his news. The ending is certainly not a surprise considering the farm is in Kansas. The illustrations of the loveable duck and his pals are endearing.
