Everyone Brave is forgiven by Chris Cleave unfolds during the WWII bombing of London, and the siege and bombing of Malta. It has really excellent writing, especially the dialogue. The horrors and total arbitrariness of war are fully explored. Based loosely on the lives of the author’s grandparents, the story develops with unforgettable and intense characters. It’s a very intimate look at young people exploring deep feelings for the first time, against the backdrop of horrendous global conflict. Highly recommended.
