Evicted by Matthew Desmond chronicles the desperate efforts of poor Americans to keep a roof over their heads. The author profiles eight families and two landlords in the poor areas of Milwaukee in 2008 and 2009. These are families who are left with almost no money after paying rent. Inner city apartment buildings to trailer parks tell the same sad story. There is also hard data in this book but the impact comes from knowing the struggles people go through to try and have some stability in their home lives. Highly recommended.
