Farmhouse

Farmhouse by Sophie Blackall tells the story of a real-life farmhouse through clever rhymes and charming illustrations. A large white farmhouse is home to twelve children who eat, sleep, play, do chores, read, and dream beneath its roof for years until they’re all grown up, and most move away to start their own families and lives elsewhere. The house starts to deteriorate when the last child grows to be very old and leaves the house for the last time. However, the illustrations show the accumulated trinkets and mementos the family left behind over many years. Finally, the author herself makes a cameo in the story as the house’s newest chapter, stepping in to rehabilitate the house and bring it to life again.
