David and Mark Schultz (Mark Ruffalo and Channing Tatum) were brothers who won more wrestling matches, including World and Olympic gold medals in 1984 than any other American brother combination. Mark began competing in gymnastics, switching to wrestling when he moved to Oregon for a short period of time, while David began wrestling in high school. Based on true events, "Foxcatcher" tells the dark and fascinating story of the unlikely and ultimately tragic relationship between an eccentric multi-millionaire (Steve Carell) and the two champion wrestlers. Directed by Academy Award nominee Bennett Miller it is a rich and moving story of brotherly love, misguided loyalty, and the corruption and emotional bankruptcy that can accompany great power and wealth. Nominated for five Academy Awards.
