Hacksaw Ridge (R) 139 minutes

HACKSAW RIDGE – Movies – (R)--OSCAR WINNER for BEST FILM EDITING and BEST SOUNDS MIXING. Based on the true story of Desmond Doss (Andrew Garfield), the first Conscientious Objector to receive the Medal of Honor from President Truman for his extraordinary work as a medic in the South Pacific in WWII. On Okinawa, he singles-handily, during the bloodiest battle, after the US troops had pulled back, saved 75 men without firing or carrying a gun. He was the only American soldier in WWII to fight on the front lines without a weapon. He believed that while the war was justified, the killing was nevertheless wrong. As an army medic, he evacuated the wounded from behind enemy lines, braved fire while tending to soldiers, included 2 Japanese, was wounded by a grenade and hit by snipers.
