I’m Not Small by Nina Crews shows a little boy finding his place in the world, both literally and figuratively. On a day when the sun is shining and the weather is clear, the boy and his parents decide he’s big enough to play by himself out of doors. But, when he gets outside, the hugeness of the sky, the trees, and the backyard make him feel small. As he plays, he notices that he is bigger than his dog, his cat, his rabbit, a bee, and the ants on the ground, and realizes that he can be both big and small at the same time. The book cleverly uses a child’s words and thoughts to show how a new perspective can change everything!
