McFarland USA – movie-PG – This Disney sports movie, MCFARLAND USA, is based on the inspiring true story of underdogs in a small California town triumphing over tremendous obstacles, both personal and sport related. A heartwarming drama follows novice runners who strive to build a cross-country team in a school that has only known football. The Coach, Jim White (Kevin Costner) has been fired or quit numerous school coaching jobs due to his outspoken attitude. Now he finds himself in a largely Latino community--mostly pickers. Pickers work in the fields surrounding the town for miles in all directions. Either he will make it in they're predominantly Latino high school or not. Everyone has a lot to learn about each other, but when Coach realizes the boys' exceptional running ability, things change. Beyond their talent, it's the power of family, commitment to each other and work ethic that transform them into champions--helping them achieve their own American dream.
