Our Dogs, Ourselves by Alexandra Horowitz is an eye-opening collection of essays. She runs the canine lab at Barnard and has spent a lifetime trying to understand what dogs are telling us. We have been linked with our canine companions for thousands of years but do not always know what they are thinking. We love them but they are legal property to do with what we wish. She has combined hard science with anecdotes picked up while dog walking or working in her lab. This is both an educational and entertaining read.
