The book describes the author’s journey as she takes on the rehabilitation of an abandoned young jay. She and her family lose their heart to Jemima, who is willful, intrepid and unwittingly hilarious. The author is a gifted naturalist and illustrator; the drawings and photos in the book are priceless. There is so much to be learned about our backyard birds, and this is a wonderful place to start.
