Second Wind

Second Wind by Nathaniel Philbrick, originally published in 1999, was just reissued. It is tailor-made for all sunfish sailors, Nantucket enthusiasts and/or anyone who loves to sail. Philbrick was having a bit of a midlife crisis when he wrote the book, wondering if he still had the drive and ability to compete at the top level like he did as a young adult. He decides to train for the National Sunfish tournament by sailing on all of Nantucket’s ponds. He learns a lot about wind and committing to a goal as he sails in all weather. As you might imagine there is a fair amount of humor in the book as well. Even he manages to turtle his craft. (Non-Fiction)
