Six Dots--A Story of Young Louis Braille by Jen Bryant is inspiring. Louis was born in the early 1800’s and became totally blind at the age of 5. Unusually for that time, when all but rich children had to work, his family supported him in every way possible. A noblewoman in his village got him a spot at the school for blind in Paris and he left for there when he was 10. Initially using a military code, he spent years simplifying it so it became the very useful Braille language still used to this day.
