Suffragette: The Battle for Equality

Suffragette: the Battle for Equality by David Roberts is a fascinating, extensive look at the history of women’s efforts to secure the right to vote. The courageous early suffragettes are a great example of the value of persistence, as it was years before they were taken seriously. The UK and the US rights were won in 1918 and 1920 respectively, but that did not include African American women. It would take the voting rights act passed 40 years later to secure their rights.
