The Backup Bunny

The Backup Bunny by Abigail Rayner, illustrated by Greg Stones is the story of a young boy and his favorite Bunny, inadvertently left behind one day. The “just in case” stuffed bunny who lives in the sock drawer, is called upon to fill in for the primary stuffed rabbit. He has longed for the day he would get to play with the boy. He’s cruelly rejected because he’s too new, and finds purpose as the cat’s cushion. It’s all a bit too much to bear until the boy sees the light. The sock drawer scene towards the end is most amusing.
