The Ex  by Alafair Burke is a very fast moving thriller, which takes place in NYC. The author knows how to write sharp, witty dialogue that keeps the plot moving. The main character is a lawyer who finds herself defending an old boyfriend against a murder charge. A complex plot involving an earlier shooting hangs over every step she takes, increasingly uncertain about anyone’s innocence. This is a really good page turner.
