The Hiding Place

The Hiding Place by C.J. Tudor is really good and unusual. It's tense from the first page when two cops are called to the horrific scene of a murder. The narration is then mysteriously taken up by Joe, a newly hired teacher who grew up in the downtrodden English village where the murder occurred. An ugly past is still casting a long shadow and the ghostly aspects of the isolated village take on more importance as the book progresses. This is a good page-turner
