The Lioness

by Chris, Bohjalian is an adventuresome thriller reminiscent of Agatha Christie at her very best. It’s 1964 and Hollywood star Katie Barstow has married the love of her life, David Hill, and is planning a lavish honeymoon in Africa. She and her other guests, including her best friend, Carmen Tedesco, and her costar, Terrance Dutton, plan to spend their days photographing animals in the Serengeti and relaxing with the comfort of ice-cold cocktails in the evenings. Instead, their arrival is met with a kidnapping and shocking violence, perpetrated by Russian mercenaries whose motives are murky. Throughout their ordeal, each character’s history will come to light as, faced with death, they are forced to confront themselves as well as their enemies.
