The Maze at Windermere

The Maze at Windermere by Gregory Blake Smith has a dazzling Newport backdrop. The three centuries of history from the Quakers in the late 1600’s to the present day is the setting for five stories that weave themes of love, ambition, adversity and confronting the moral issues of the times. The language is rich, tailored to each era which makes it fun to read. The characters are complex, many are imperfect and all believable as they wrestle with their circumstances. This is one of the better historical fiction books written in the last few years. Highly recommended.
