The Tale of Princess Kaguya- Studio Ghibli animated films dubbed in English and based upon the classic Japanse folktale "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter." A bamboo cutter named Sanuki no Miyatsuko discovers a miniature girl inside a glowing bamboo shoot. Believing her to be a divine presence, Miyatsuko and his wife decide to raise her as their own, callling her "Princess." The girl grows rapidly and conspicuously, marveling her parents and earning her the nickname "Takenoko" (Little Bamboo) from the othe children in the village. Sutemaru, the oldest among the Kaguya's friends, develops a particularly close relationship with her. Ambition grows, turning to disappointment and fear when Princess realizes she must leave the people and places she has come to love deeply.
