The Word is Murder by Anthony Horowitz is quite clever. The author is actually a character, which takes getting used to but is fun as he is free to make all kinds of side comments on the action. It all starts with a woman who goes to a funeral home to plan her funeral and then turns up dead. Horowitz is approached by a detective working on the case who wants him to write the story as he solves the crime. Lots of twists make this one hard to put down.
