Transit by Rachel Cusk is a superb novel. The writing is close to perfect, to the point where you want to reread sentences just to enjoy her wordsmithing. The story is straightforward. A divorces woman who is a writer moves back to London with her two young sons after 15 years away. Her interactions with the people she meets and works with are the backbone of the plot. That really doesn’t do the book justice as it sounds pedestrian, but if you need a break from thrillers and want to kick back with wonderful prose this is your book. It is the second work in a trilogy but can be easily read as a standalone book.
