Unbroken: The Unbelieveable True Story-Movie (PG-13) 138 minutes

Olympic long distance medal winner and war hero Louis “Louie” Zamperini’s life unfolds in this movie directed by Angelina Jolie. As a young boy, Louie was on the path towards delinquency, when his older brother noticed how fast he ran to elude the local police and gets him to join the track team he runs in and put his speed toward something productive. Louie beats his brother, and held the fastest mile record for US high school milers and wins the gold medal at the Olympics in Germany. When Pearl Harbor is bombed, he’s stationed in the pacific theater as a bombardier and is shot from the sky crashing into the ocean. He is picked up by the Japanese and sent to prison camp, where he is abused and tortured for years, and yet remains unbroken. Difficult to watch at times, but the spirit is great.
