What is Love? by Mac Barnett is a charming fable-like tale about a little boy who asks his grandmother one day, “What is love?” She tells him to find his answer “out into the world” and so he searches, asking all kinds of different people – fishermen, actors, carpenters, poets, even cats, and dogs--but receives a different answer from each one. The boy’s journey, and the answer to his question, present a lovely, nuanced view of the many different forms love takes.
