The Young Widower's Handbook

The Young Widower’s Handbook is a debut novel by Tom McAllister that tackles the challenging question of what you do when your life is turned upside down. Hunter is a widowed newlywed. No spoiler here, she dies on page 2 and there is that giveaway title. Kait’s death unmoors him and his only coherent thought after the funeral is to get away and do some of the travelings they always talked about. The second part of the book is the road trip he embarks on with her ashes, complete with zany characters. McAllister’s writing is excellent and wins you over despite the sadness of the theme.
