A workshop for high school juniors and seniors

Join us for this hands-on workshop where Lauren Henry with Take the Helm College Advising will:

• Walk you step by step through the process of learning what the personal essay is—and isn’t
• Explain what elements make an effective essay
• Help you determine what you want to (and should) convey in your essay
• Run brainstorming exercises to help you determine your essay topic

You will leave this workshop being well on your way to an amazing first draft and kickstart your essay writing journey.

About our Facilitator: After working in the advertising industry and gaining years of experience as a freelance writer (with a three-year circumnavigation on board a 36’ sailboat thrown in there), Lauren Henry decided to transition to college counseling after helping family friends and her own kids navigate their applications. She loves working with high school students; discovering their passions, identifying schools where they will thrive, and guiding them through the ins and outs of the process. Her approach to college counseling centers on empowering students to take control of their futures. She received her BA from Tufts University, earned a Certificate in College Counseling with Distinction from UCLA, and is a certified WOW College Essay coach.
