SoS Presents: As You Like It

Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at Rowayton Library

“Do you not know I am a woman? When I think I must speak.”

Fun Fact: In Shakespeare's romantic comedy As You Like It, the heroine Rosalind has more lines than any other female character in all of Shakespeare: more lines than Cleopatra or Juliet, more than twice as many lines as Lady Macbeth.

In As You Like It, Shakespeare's version of Into The Woods, we have not two, not three, but four romantically challenged couples wandering the forest of Arden. Without Rosalind, they would never find each other, much less true love. Shakespeare wrote As You Like It at the peak of his career, right before Twelfth Night and Hamlet, and it has been an audience favorite ever since.

Shakespeare on the Sound Education Director and Macbeth/Christmas Carol actor Nick Urda and board member/Shakespeare teacher John Love will guide you through As You Like It and, in an interactive presentation, hope to show you why they consider Rosalind Shakespeare's greatest heroine and As You Like It his most interesting comedy. Their program comes to Rowayton just in time for As You Like It, Shakespeare on the Sound's 27th annual summer production, in Rowayton's Pinkney Park from June 14th through July 2nd.
