Updates to Library Takeout

You can still reserve materials online, we’ll pull them for you, call you when they’re ready, come pick them up inside the library, and take them home. The revised steps and guidelines for Library Takeout are:

  1. First, you log in to your account online.Go to the account log in page via our website here.
    • If you've never logged into your account before, set your password here. If you haven't set your username yet, use the 14-digit barcode number located on the back of your library card.
      • If you don't have your library card number and can't find your library card, call us at 203-838-5038 or email us at library@rowayton.org and we can give it to you over the phone.
  2. Then, put the items that you want on hold.
  3. After you've placed your holds, wait for a phone call notification.
    • When your hold is ready for pickup, you will receive a phone notification.
    • Library staff will have already checked out your items, placed them in a new paper bag, and have them listed alphabetically on the table in the main room of the library.
  4. Pick Up Your Items in the Library
    • You will have three days to pick up your materials unless you indicate a specific day that you’ll be available to pick up your holds, in accordance with the aforementioned Limited Access hours.
    • Masks are required for all library pickups.
    • When you get to the library, please wait in line if necessary on designated X's that we've pre-marked to maintain a 6-foot social distance.
    • Once your turn comes to enter the library, go to the main room of the library, only touch your bag of holds, and you're good to go!
    • Please note, that we will still be stamping the materials with due dates but no fines will accrue on your account should they be returned past the due date. We ask that you do your best to respect those due dates so that other patrons can enjoy the library materials, too.

We want to make sure to continue to do what we can to provide you and our community with the best service possible while making sure to keep the health and safety of both you, our patrons, and us, your library staff, our top priority.

Library staff continues to work with extra precautions in place to be both effective and safe while also continuing to work with limited staff in the building at one time. we ask that you remain patient as we all navigate this "new normal" together.

Continue to stay safe and be well! We look forward to seeing you soon!
